I love Saigon Grill. The food is consistently delicious, high quality and inexpensive. The people who work there are also very nice. I haven't been to every restaurant that serves pho in the Triangle but Saigon Grill makes the best one I have had so far. The vermicelli bowls are pretty good too, but it's hard to order anything other than the pho.
Don't let the "hole in the wall" feel sway you. The pho is delicious! And good prices
While this may be the second best tasting Pho in Durham, it is by far the best value. Larger than normal portions for under $10, not too salty (though I could see it getting that way if the cooks didn't pay attention), and plenty of good seating
Poor customer service...PERIOD! Very rude!
I take it as a personal challenge to get the waiter to smile. The food is so fresh and authentic and the casual atmosphere is low stress for families and loud teens. The Vietnamese coffee is delish too.
Excellent lunch today. Did one of the Indy's 💯 places to eat in the triangle.Had the shrimp and beef salad. Bed of lettuce with vermicelli noodles, topped with beef and a couple of shrimp, daikon radish, carrots, cilantro, fish sauce and peanuts. Two of us shared one bowl- BC it wasn't exactly lunch or dinner time but we needed a little something.
Not fancy, and the service is brusque, but the food is excellent. It's off a busy road, but there is ample parking.
Love the pho here it’s really nice and authentic! Sadly I came here again yesterday but the restaurant was closed (or refurbishing not sure)
Good food but not the friendliest service if that's important to you. If you don't care about service, pho is bomb and if they have fresh rolls those are quite tasty as well
Authentic. Don't go if you're the type of person who gets upset if your drink isn't refilled every 3 minutes. But for the price and quality of food it's gonna be 5 stars from me.
Great food at a good price
A very clean and pleasant atmosphere, the food was some of the best I've ever had and there was a lot of it! I have a medium Pho bowl with the sliced eye roast; the broth had a really nice spice flavor to it. The shrimp rolls were full of very fresh shrimp, cilantro and sprouts; the dipping sauce was a nice compliment to the rolls. This was my 1st time; it certainly will not be my last. I plan to make this place a regular on my weekly eats list! I highly recommend the Saigon Grill, if your in the Durham area this is a must try kind of place!
Sad thing is I would give this place 5 stars when it comes to the food but I can’t honestly give that review for one particular issue. They are very flakey when it comes to being open when they say they are going to be open. They will randomly be closed when they are supposed to be open for unknown reasons. I used to call for takeout but they don’t answer their phone often. I don’t mind driving there to place an order there or to go but since they aren’t dependable on their hours I will admit I haven’t gone in a while bc it is frustrating driving there just to find out they are closed randomly.Also. They USED to have the best damn spring rolls I have ever tasted at a Vietnamese restaurant. Sadly they stopped making them. I really wish they would put them back on the menu!!
Authentic! Not overly gormet if you're into that stylization of your food, but definitely good.
I would give them 5 stars if they could learn how to be open when they say.Photo taken Wednesday
We are from Cali and this is our go to spot. I love there food and the soup hits the spot. Whenever I eat here it takes me back to Cali where the Vietnamese good taste the same. You have to eat here anytime your in town and or if you are craving. Although if your like me I love Vietnamese food period.
Good food, good prices, large helpings
When you order a large pho... you get a LARGE pho. Quality was good. Place was actually not busy at all when I went. Probably deserves more traffic than it is getting.
Giving a 1 star because me and my friend went yesterday (Saturday) for lunch when we received our Pho my friend found a small hair ball in her food...when we brought it to the waiter/ I assume the owner since he is the only one we ever see working. The waiter rolled his eyes. We told him the issue showed him the hair and asked for a new soup. He rolled his eyes then told us he wouldn't be serving us anymore. We were confused and asked why he then told us to leave the restaurant...i was shocked the worst part was we say he Continued to serve others the same pho... I am very disappointed in how the situation was handled up until now Ive only had good experiences except the waiter/owner is extremely rude
If you want Phó then come here! Rich broth, plenty of noodles, not skimpy on the protein. Flavors are abundant. Super cheap! Im talking ridiculously cheap for the portions and quality! The basil they bring you is soooo fresh and aromatic! Bean sprouts??? FRESH! Stiry fry veggies are crisp, fresh, and flavorful! I would say best Phó I've had outside of NYC! Seriously a hidden gem in Durham! The staff are old country vietnamese, so don't expect laughs and talk time. Very too the point, but SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR FOOD! A+++
The menu on Google maps is incorrect, it's not for this place at all. There is no vegetarian menu here, although there are a couple (very bland) vegetarian options on the actual menu. Tasty Vietnamese coffee though.
I find the staff very nice; every time I turn someone new on to this place, they are amazed by my favorite dish: just order number 19. You won't be disappointed. One order is enough for two people, so don't be dismayed but the price. So delicious! I wish this place was downtown.
Fresh and flavorful. Went there on a weekday for lunch and the hostess, waiter, & possibly cook were all the same person. Food more than made up for it though. Great pho!
The spring roll is amazing. Wonderful pho
Service wasn't the friendliest but I did have a special request and there may have been a little bit of a language barrier... that being said, the food was very good.
A rustic place with no excitement, but some of the best pho' we've ever had. The menu is varied with lots of good stuff! We don't live in Raleigh, but we would go here often if we did.
Amazing huge bowl of pho! The broth is perfect, plenty of onions and cilantro. Huge serving of meat and noodles. The taste of the pho is perfect. The serving size for a large is huge! The restaurant can't seat many people so it's great for groups. The restrooms are very clean!Drove very far to check this restaurant and very glad I did. I'm looking forward to many more visits to this happy gem of a restaurant, Saigon Grill.
The broth is decent, but what kind of pho house doesn’t serve rare beef !?!? They tried to tell me the health department doesn’t allow it...... what... every other pho house in the world serves rare beef on the side if you ask
This place is fantastic. Delicious, generous portions! A must on your list of go-to restaurants in Durham. Great service. Nobody here speaks much English, which usually always means great food in Asian restaurants, and this place is no exception. Don't let the unassuming atmosphere fool you, it's great.
Portion is ridiculously awesome if you order a large bowl of pho. They have an ample selection of sauces including chili oil. Staff is brief in conversation.
The food is as good as in more upscale Southeast Asian restaurants, but the prices are in line with most Chinese restaurants at around $10.
Nice casual place. The coffee is amazing. I'd go there just for that.
Very quick service. Enjoy the Saigon Grill Pho. See picture. Ordered the large, too much food omg.
Really good food! And a lot of it!
Always one of our favorite stops for pho and noodles. The service is curt but efficient. This is a mom and pop place that offers huge portions at a low price. Lots of space so rarely a wait. We spend as much time settling in as waiting for food.
No frills, nothing fancy . . . just really great Vietnamese food! The dining room is open, relaxed, and quiet, the menu simple (two pages). The food itself though is fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor!Definitely some of the best Pho in Durham, and unbeatable for the price!
Omg the food is absolutely amazing, don’t get me wrong. I fell in love with traditional Vietnamese Pho in Dallas/Ft Worth where the options were plentiful. The portions are large, the service is quick and friendly. The prices are beyond fair. They give plenty of fresh veggies (bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño) every single time. The add ins are plentiful on the table (hot oil, soy sauce, fish sauce, etc) I feel like I’ve been invited into their home to eat when I come here. It’s quaint, no frills, so please don’t expect some fancy restaurant. The owner seems to run the place all alone, so don’t expect to be catered to. Even still, I’ve never felt neglected. The one star I removed has to be for the inconvenience of driving across town multiple times to find the restaurant closed. I crave this place severely so that may have a bit to do with my disappointment. There is no replacement for me. Please keep the Pho coming! :(
Good thick soup. Good quantity
The food is absolutely fantastic and great quality. The owner also has a lot of history to share about his life and how he came to America. Great example of how Durham has diversified the city.
Great authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I wish they'd bring back the spring rolls. But everything else is amazing. Pho is delicious! Try the fried rice. No refills on soda. So order tea or water instead. It's on a busy road. Getting into is fine. Trying to exit left is very difficult.
Was very skeptical about trying this place but glad I did was very good. I got the Saigon special PHO , brisket was chewy and broth was the best I think in Durham. Owner- waiter was a little grumpy food is definitely worth going.
Always a great experience at Saigon Grill. The owner is a little rough around the edges, older gentlemen maybe prior military but he is nice and he does it all himself, including waiting and bussing the tables. The food is great!! Always a go to in my book. The pho is always hot always delicious and I never leave disappointed or hungry.
Edit: They no longer server the fresh spring rolls. I no longer have a real reason to come here.Their pho is still amazing though.I've been coming here for years and years. I love everything on their menu. I usually get pho with a couple of fresh spring rolls on the side. The husband and wife that run the store are usually very nice. The only thing I don't like is that they open whenever they want. The hours of operation don't mean a thing. Sometimes they're open and sometimes not. I hate it when I drive all the way there and they're closed.
The food here is extremely fresh, delicious, and a crazy-good deal. I've had pho, bun, stir fry, and spring rolls, and everything has been fantastic. The owner (who runs the front of house) is a bit quiet, but seems nice. If you want Vietnamese, this is the place to go!
Great food! Food comes quick. I wish they could have more salted lemon soda. I can't always get it. Love the Pho soup.
Flavors explode in your mouth.
Best Pho in North Carolina. Always the same delicious taste.
Pork salad bowl.... lovely!
Great pho for a great price.
